KMET recruits new facilities into Huduma Poa franchise!

CTU 001 01KMET under Health Communication and Marketing program held a six-day comprehensive training on Contraceptive Technology Update and Implanon NXT roll out. The training that brought together the providers from the newly recruited private facilities into Huduma Poa franchise had an aim of equipping the new providers with knowledge and apt skills on family planning services to ensure they deliver quality family planning and services to the underserved women in the community.
The training covered various topics, which included; anatomy and physiology of reproductive system, broad discussions on family planning methods and the partipants interacted and had a feel of different family planning methods. The training also touched on menstrual cycle, WHO eligibity criteria, documentation and record keeping for monitoring and evaluation. In addition, the providers were trained on infection prevention and family planning counseling to ensure the clients understand the methods before he/she makes a decision of which method to adopt.
The training had a two-day practicum session, which took place in two facilities in the rural areas of Kisii County. The participants were required to perform at least two insertions of both IUCD and Implants, perform a cervical cancer screening and removals before being commissioned for the task that lies ahead.
The training took place at Dan’s hotel in Kisii County while the practicum sessions were practiced at Kenyenya and Magina health dispensaries both in rural Kisii County. The providers trained were drawn from Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, Homa Bay, Kericho, Bomet and Siaya counties.
A similar training have been done for providers from the newly recruited facilities from Western Kenya.
